How 10 Panel STD Tests Work

Simply place an order online for your 10 Panel STD test and schedule your appointment. Then, visit one of our 4,000+ nationwide testing facilities at your scheduled time to have your sample collected. This full panel test requires both a blood test and a urine test. A certified staff member will collect the sample at which point your job is complete. The process is painless and takes only a few minutes. In fact, most patients are in and out of the facility in under 30 minutes. From there, your sample will be processed in a CLIA-certified laboratory and you’ll have complete results available on your online portal regarding your status for the 10 most common STDs.

Common Symptoms

Although STDs differ in symptoms, there are common signs that indicate something might be off. If you should experience any of these common symptoms, a 10 test panel is recommended:

  • Clear, white, greenish or yellowish vaginal discharge.
  • Discharge from the penis.
  • Strong vaginal odor.
  • Vaginal itching or irritation.
  • Itching or irritation inside the penis.
  • Pain during sexual intercourse.
  • Jaundice.
  • Painful urination.

How to Interpret Your Results

Once you get results from the STD panel, it might seem overwhelming at first. But take the time to interpret your test results to have a full understanding of your status. The summary for your full panel STD test will most likely include the name of the test, a ‘result’, ‘reference range’ and ‘flag’.

The ‘result’ indicates reactive, non-reactive, detected, not-detected or a value. If you see a value, this is a numerical measurement that is compared against the reference range to determine if the sample is normal or abnormal.

The ‘flag’ value will indicate whether your test came back normal or abnormal. Normal ranges indicate you are not infected and an abnormal result could mean a possible infection.

10 Panel STD Test vs Early Detection STD Test

Our 10 Panel STD Test is designed to identify the presence of the 10 most common STDs. Typically, we recommend testing 2 or 3 weeks after exposure to avoid a false negative. If you’re concerned about a positive status before that 2 to 3 week window, we recommend scheduling an Early Detection STD Test that uses a more advanced method of testing to detect the presence of STDs sooner.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Most STIs are asymptomatic and comorbidity is not uncommon. While you might test negative for chlamydia, you could have gonorrhea, hepatitis C, hepatitis B, HIV Type 1, or other diseases. STDs can also have similar symptoms. These factors can make it difficult to pinpoint exactly what’s wrong without getting tested.

Instead of just taking one gonorrhea test or hepatitis B test and hoping for the best, you can get concrete results with an STD panel. The 10 Panel STD Test is quick, private and affordable. This way, you can avoid those sleepless nights filled with what-ifs.

  • We offer treatment options for patients who test positive for chlamydia, gonorrhea, or trichomoniasis. If you receive a positive result, simply call and speak with a care counselor to schedule a phone consultation with a physician. Medication can be called into your local pharmacy, and no office visit is needed. We are partnered with physicians at PWNHealth so treatment can be prescribed if appropriate in all states. You must have a positive result before treatment can be authorized. The physician consult fee is $65.

  • We aim to deliver full, comprehensive results in a timely manner (usually within 24-72 hours after testing). If you do have questions about your results, our care counselors are standing by ready and willing to assist. We can even put you in touch with a physician should you require additional assistance and/or prescription medication.

  • Simply put, at Priority Lab Testing we aim to deliver the most accurate testing results anywhere on the market. We’ve partnered with industry-leading clinical laboratory Quest Diagnostics to ensure that all testing results, including blood tests and urine tests, are clear, comprehensive, and reliable for our patients. Tests are FDA-approved and conducted in CLIA-certified laboratories. Testing centers perform regular quality assurance testing to ensure accurate results time and time again.

  • The recommended frequency of testing for STDs can vary depending on the type of STD, risk factors, age, sexual activity, and whether or not you’ve tested positive for an infection previously.

According to the National Coalition for Sexual Health, sexually active adults should get tested for gonorrhea and chlamydia at least once a year. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) also encourages those between the ages of 13 and 64 to get tested for HIV at least once.

In general, yearly panel testing is recommended for some of the more common STDs such as hepatitis C, hepatitis B, herpes, gonorrhea and chlamydia. However, you should also get tested for other less common infections such as HIV at least once.
