How Early Detection STD Tests Work

To schedule an appointment, simply place an order online for your Early Detection STD test. Then, visit one of our 4,000+ nationwide testing facilities to have your sample collected. A certified staff member will take a small blood and urine sample at which point your job is complete. The process is painless and takes only a few minutes. In fact, most patients are in and out of the facility in under a half-hour. From there, your sample will be processed in a CLIA-certified laboratory and you’ll have complete results available on your online portal regarding your status for chlamydia, gonorrhea, HIV, herpes, syphilis and hepatitis A/B up to 2 weeks earlier than regular tests would be able to detect.

Common Symptoms

Although STD symptoms differ, there are common symptoms that indicate something might be off. Common symptoms include:

  • Clear, white, greenish or yellowish vaginal discharge.
  • Discharge from the penis.
  • Strong vaginal odor.
  • Vaginal itching or irritation.
  • Itching or irritation inside the penis.
  • Pain during sexual intercourse.
  • Painful urination.

How to Interpret Your Results

Once you get your results, it might seem overwhelming at first. But take the time to interpret your results to have a full understanding of your status. Your test results summary will most likely include the name of the test, a ‘result’, ‘reference range’ and ‘flag’.

The ‘result’ indicates reactive, non-reactive, detected, not-detected or a value. If you see a value, this is a numerical measurement that is compared against the reference range to determine if the sample is normal or abnormal.

The ‘flag’ value will indicate whether your test came back normal or abnormal. Normal ranges indicate you are not infected and an abnormal result could mean a possible infection.

Early Detection STD Test vs 10 Panel STD Test

If you’re concerned about an exposure that occurred in the last 9-11 days, our Early Detection STD Test is the best option for quick peace of mind. A 10 Panel STD Test is recommended within a 2-3 week window of exposure.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • An Early Detection STD Test can detect the presence of several common STDs in just 9-11 days after your suspected exposure. Standard STD Tests require you to wait 2-3 weeks after you’ve been exposed to get the most accurate results. For peace of mind, and a proactive approach, knowing your status sooner than later can ensure early treatment and faster recovery.

  • We aim to deliver full, comprehensive results in a timely manner (usually within 24-72 hours after testing). If you do have questions about your results, however, our care counselors are standing by ready and willing to assist. We can even put you in touch with a physician should you require additional assistance and/or prescription medication.

If you receive a positive result, simply call and speak with a care counselor to schedule a phone consultation with a physician. Medication can be called into your local pharmacy, and no office visit is needed. We are partnered with physicians at PWNHealth so treatment can be prescribed if appropriate in all states. You must have a positive result before treatment can be authorized. The physician consult fee is $65.

  • Yes, it is possible to test for an STD too early. If you think you’ve been exposed to an STD, a normal reaction might be to get tested immediately. In reality, every STD has an incubation period. If you get tested before your body has started responding to the infection or virus, you will get a negative result even if you are infected. Waiting a minimum of 9-11 days after you’ve been exposed is best practice if you’re taking our Early Detection STD Test. For our standard STD Tests, it is recommended to wait 2-3 weeks after you’ve been exposed to get tested.
